The Downtown Dalton Summer Music Series, presented by BB&T and BB&T Insurance Services, kicks off this Friday Night, June 8th at Burr Park. You don’t want to miss this exciting opening concert which will feature three GREAT acts. The Half Notes, Ginny and the Tonics and The Peacock Alley Jazz Band.

The Half Notes will take the stage first at 7:30pm. “HALF NOTES is a Rock-n-Soul band based out of Chatsworth, GA. Made up of local working musicians, Craig Pratt, Brandon Singleton, and Cody Bunch. ‘HALF NOTES’ have a penchant for down-home shakin’ music with an insatiable appetite for fuzzy tones, and heavy grooves.”

Next up will be Ginny and the Tonics. Ginny and The Tonics formed about 2 years ago. Four voices, three multi-instrumentalists, sizzling electric guitar and tastefully surprising mix of pop, rock, folk, blues, country and jazz from the 40’s to now.   Members include: Ginny Bledsoe, Ward Satterfield, Jack Hitchens, Les Halman and Dave Mugge.

Last but surely not least will be the Peacock Alley Jazz Band. “A tasteful ambiance” easily describes the musical expressions when performed live by the Peacock Alley Jazz Group. The band’s name Peacock Alley refers to the name given to old US Hwy 41 between Dalton and Atlanta during the early 1900’s when tufted cotton chenille bedspreads adorned with peacock designs would beckon travelers to stop and purchase them. This early cottage industry led to
the birth of the carpet industry and thus Dalton Georgia became the “Carpet Capital of the World”. Each of the members of the group are employed by the “mill companies” in Dalton, Georgia and thus a nod to our Peacock Alley heritage.

So come on down to Burr Park in Dalton on Friday, June 8th at 7:30pm. Bring your family, friends, four legged family, blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the ‘Sounds of Dalton.’

The Downtown Dalton Development Authority will be serving up Beer, wine spritzers and water. Outside alcohol is not permitted.
