The Splash Pad, sponsored by the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department, is the perfect place to get your cool down. Summer burns hot in the North Georgia Mountains so bring the youngins and the young at heart and get dumped on by gallons and gallons of refreshing water. If you’ve recently got a water-proof phone the splash Pad is great place to try it out and get some awesome pictures of the kids!

 

Hike, Bike, Shred at Raisin Woods Bike Trail

Raisin Woods is one of the best places in Dalton for a quick day hike or an all-day biking adventure. The Raisin Woods Mountain Bike trail offers 3 levels of courses. Beginner, medium and advanced. Bike On at Dalton’s Raisin Woods Bike Trail.

 

Celebrate Freedom at the Dalton Fourth of July Celebration

Each year the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department throws a HUGE Independence Day celebration at Heritage Point Park. Come celebrate America at one of the nicest parks in Dalton. There will be a hot-dog eating contest, Corn Hole competitions, Disk Golf, Bounce Houses, food, live music and the largest Fire Works Show in Northwest Georgia. The Dalton Parks and Rec Fourth of July Celebration NEVER disappoints!

 

Eat Fresh and local at the Downtown Dalton Farmers Market

The Downtown Dalton Farmers Market is the place to be each Saturday. Find the freshest, local produce around as well as some of the great local arts and crafts made right here in Dalton. The Farmers Market is located at the Dalton Green, on the corner of Thornton and Waugh each Saturday from May 6th through August 26th. The market is open from 8am until 1pm.

 

Cool off at the Sweet Spot

If you’re looking for a cold sweet treat but don’t want to feel guilty afterwards, look no further. The Sweet Spot, located in Downtown Dalton, is a local Froyo shop that will surely satisfy that sweet tooth and cool you off on a steamy summer afternoon. With numerous frozen yogurt flavors, the Sweet Spot is sure to have what you dig.

 

Go back in time with Dalton’s Historic Tours

From Native American and Civil War, to old houses, trains and the history of the Carpet Industry, Dalton is the place to visit for all you history buffs. Take a stroll through the early 1900’s Dalton Freight Depot where trains still run. Tour the oldest house in Dalton, the Hamilton House, and hear about the residents who have lived there, including Dalton Poet, Robert Loveman. Be amazed at the Historic Railroad Tunnel and Museum just up the road from Dalton in Tunnel Hill where hundreds of Irish Immigrants built a marvel of its time. Check out the Confederate earthworks on Dug Gap Mountain or tour the Emery Center an African American and Multicultural exhibit, which was the first public school for African American children in Dalton.

 

Get your Groove-On with Downtown Dalton’s Night Life

Downtown Dalton has several bars, taverns, pubs and two local Craft Beer Breweries that offer live music and adult entertainment EVERY weekend. Downtown is also only one of twelve cities in the United States that has an open container law. That’s right, get a beer from one location, walk downtown with it to the next location. Shine-On at Dalton Distillery

Want to see how real Georgia Moonshine is made? Get over to Dalton Distillery and Master Distiller Raymond Butler will show you how it’s done. The Dalton Distillery offers tours Mon-Sat 10am-5pm. Come out and sample some of the products the Distillery offers while listening to one of Raymond’s stories about running moonshine through the North Georgia Mountains. We’re sure you’ll be feeling mighty good after two or three…stories that is.

 

Rock-On with the Downtown Dalton Summer Music Series

The live music scene is always hot in Dalton but during the summer, it heats up big time! The Downtown Dalton Summer Music Series kicks off on June 8th at Burr Performing Arts Park and will deliver thirteen FREE live music concerts every Friday night until August 31st. The Downtown Dalton Music Series is in its third year but this summer will be off the rails! The Downtown Dalton Summer Music Series will feature some of the best local musicians in the North Georgia area as well as some up and coming stars from other locations. This year’s concerts will include local favorites like Blackbird Revival and the Dead Trees as well as Reggae talent Zion from the West Indies, Blue Mother Tupelo, Bluetastic Fangrass, Paul Childers and much, much more.

 

Two local Craft Beer Breweries make ONE great town

Dalton has two local Craft Beer Breweries which are in a league of their own. Cherokee Brewing and Pizza Company and Dalton Brewing Company. Both brew right on location and both offer customers the chance to sample the products before purchasing. But trust us, you’re gonna love what you taste. Both are located in Downtown Dalton so you can grab a craft brew at one location, walk over to the other location and try one there, then do it all again!
