Conveniently located on I-75 between Atlanta and Chattanooga, you’ll find the Carpet Capital of the World will “floor” you with our southern hospitality and an exciting mix of tradition and modern flair.
The Cherokee called this area The Enchanted Lands for the beauty and serenity of the Appalachian Mountain foothills. Later the ingenuity and entrepreneurship of a 15-year-old girl, Catherine Evans-Whitener, would revolutionize textile production, expanding Dalton to a worldwide industry leader. We’ve come so far, but the people have never lost the connection with this land that has enchanted so many for generations.

The historic freight depot in the heart of Downtown Dalton is the home of the local visitor center. We are here to welcome you to our city and give you “The Local Experience”
Learn about Dalton’s textile history and the beautiful chenille bedspreads that gave us the name Peacock Alley.

The Creative Arts Guild Festival starts this Friday! Bring your entire family to celebrate the arts on September 20, 21, and 22. The weekend will kick off with the Preview Party + Taste of Dalton event on Friday from 7-9 pm (tickets available for $55 at bit.ly/F24PreviewParty). Then, enjoy FREE ADMISSION to the Festival on Saturday from 10 am-5 pm and Sunday from 11 am-5 pm.

The Battle of Tunnel Hill Reenactment is this weekend, Sept. 7 and 8. Festivities begin at 10 AM on both days, and the battle begins at 2 PM! Parking is available at 215 Clisby Austin Drive. Admission is $10.
