All proceeds from this event will go to our local Cohutta Elementary School for Backpack meals. If you want to know more about backpack meals and where your money is going please read below.
Below is a letter from the principal himself.
“Our Saturday Lunch program was started several years ago to meet a need that had arisen amongst our students. We work with local donors, volunteers, and local churches to purchase and pack lunches several times a year. Much of the food is purchased by Cohutta First Baptist Church through their account at the local food bank which allows us to make our dollars go further. A volunteer uses the church’s account to shop at the food bank to get the items we prefer for our bags. Some of the food is also donated by local donors. In each bag, we typically have two canned food items (Beanie Weenies, Chili, etc.), breakfast food items (breakfast bars, cereal, etc.), packaged fruit, and small snacks. We have also included drinks from time to time depending on outside donations due to cost. Our students and families have seemed to appreciate the help. and we are always open to adding and subtracting names as parents contact us throughout the year. In addition to our Saturday lunch program, we also use our funds to help families as needs present themselves throughout the year. We have been able to help pay for groceries and pay utility bills as needs arise based on a protocol we’ve used for several years. This fund has been supported by so many in our community, and we are thrilled we are able to stand in the gap to help our families when needs arise.” – Principal Tim Wright.
*Arm bands for unlimited bouncy houses will be sold at the ticket booth. Arm band = $3.
*Cohutta’s Police Department will also be doing a raffle.

“The Raffle will take place at the Cohutta Street Dance with assistance from the Cohutta Ruritan Club on September 28, 2019. Tickets will be $1 per ticket, $5 for 6 tickets, and $10 for 12 tickets. Tickets will be sold at the Cohutta Town Hall during business hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am-5pm, from Cohutta PD officers anytime, and also at BillsCo. Sales located at 3877 GA Highway 2, 30710. There will be two grand prize winners.
We currently have obtained two brand new pistols for the grand prize winners: Taurus G2C 9mm and a SCCY CPX2 9mm along with other prizes for 3rd and 4th place winners etc… The pistols may be viewed at BillsCo. sales Tuesday through Friday 12:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday at select times. You can reach BillsCo. sales by calling (706)-271-6515 and Cohutta PD by calling (706)-694-6411 extension 1. Monies earned from these raffles will go into the general fund for the Town of Cohutta, and will in turn fund emergency medical response bags for Cohutta PD officers (with equipment in each bag such as barrier shields, tourniquets and bleeding control items), it will also fund emergency medical re-certification trainings, and an AED (automated external defibrillator) for the on duty Cohutta PD officers to carry in their patrol car for rapid response to heart related issues. Your support of this raffle and the Town of Cohutta Police Department is greatly appreciated. Good Luck!!!”
