If you’re looking for a fun and adventurous gift for your mom this Mother’s Day, search no more. Dalton Ghost Tours will open its 15th season with free ghost tours for moms on Friday and Saturday, May 11 and 12, at 8 p.m. Your mom will love the opportunity to spend time with you, as you explore the city’s paranormal hot spots and hear true tales of terror sure to send chills up and down your shivering spines!

An experienced tour guide will lead you on a spirited 90-minute journey, pointing out some of the places written about in Connie Hall-Scott’s book, “Haunted Dalton, Georgia.” You’ll visit sites of hangings and lynching’s, where – according to numerous eye witnesses – the tortured souls of victims past continue to linger. You’ll get to know the earthbound spirits of a fireman who perished inside Dalton Little Theatre. Then there’s the giggling ghost children and the lady in white at the historic Wink Theatre; the mischievous gambler who met his end at the bottom of a staircase inside a speakeasy; the very active spirit of a young woman who took her life at Hotel Dalton, and a host of other ethereal beings who hang around for various reasons of their own.

“It’s really no wonder there are so many ghost stories and sightings in and around downtown,” opined Connie Hall-Scott. “Dalton is very history rich. From the Woodland, Creek, and Cherokee Indians who once thrived here before being forced out by the horror we call the Trail of Tears to the Civil War and beyond. Add to that, everyday murder, madness, and mayhem, and paranormal possibilities abound! Dalton Ghost Tour guides are enthusiastic and eager to share their knowledge of local legend and lore, as well as stories of currently active downtown haunting’s. Be sure to bring an open mind and a hand to hold!”

Tours will be offered on Saturday nights, 8 p.m., following Mother’s Day weekend through September; and on Friday and Saturday nights, 8 p.m., throughout the month of October. Upcoming special events and guests will be announced on the Dalton Ghost Tours Facebook page.

Start point is the wooden deck, directly across the street from the Wink Theatre on W. Crawford Street in historic downtown Dalton. All non-mom guests pay $15. Children under the age of 6 are admitted free. Tickets will be available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the deck on Friday and Saturday.
