Area singer/songwriter Earl Brackin will be performing January 26th in the Jonas Hall of the Creative Arts Guild at 520 W Waugh St, Dalton, GA. He will be performing a variety of acoustic music, most of which are original compositions. Appearing with Earl will be Paul Byrum/bass, Tom Brown/harmonica, Ken Hamilton/banjo and Tod Brock/fiddle. These talented musicians appear on his recordings and often accompany him in concert.
Though Earl’s music is described as “Americana/Folk/Bluegrass” on his Facebook page, his music is not that easily categorized; he often incorporates elements from different styles of music into his compositions resulting in interesting and appealing blends within the songs. Earl loves to engage with his listeners and fans say his concerts are “more like an honest conversation between two people instead of a performance”.
Earl grew up in a household of musicians; his father was a band director and his mother a pianist/violinist/cellist. As a teen he learned guitar in order to accompany himself as he sang. He cites James Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot as two big influences on his writing style. Eventually, his pursuit of music led to two degrees in music from Auburn University. He currently serves as Minister of Worship at Evangelical Methodist Church in Dalton, Ga.
