Mack Gaston Community Center
Biography
The Dalton Community Center was established in 1954 by a group of concerned citizens dedicated to the development of better health and wholesome recreation. In 1966 the Community Center became part of the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department. This additional expansion provided additional recreational services to the residents of the Eastside Community. The Community Center offers many different types of activities for all ages. Basketball, soccer, computer lab, tutoring, weight room facilities, dance classes, aerobics, meeting space and rental space for receptions and parties. Finished in 2012, the construction includes a much larger Community Center (Mack Gaston Community Center). This facility has given DPRD much needed athletic facilities as well as space for community collaborations. The facility has two gyms, an indoor walking track, a state of the art computer lab, weight room, aerobic room and other rooms for outside groups. Mack Gaston Community Center also includes space for WIC, a health center, and an information center for the Dalton Police Dept. DPRD is very fortunate to have partnerships with these and other outside agencies.
